Harry H. Haines is a former music teacher and author whose first novel, ORPHAN was published in 2008. A second novel, TEXAS PAINC!, is due out in September 2009.
These are by no means Harry's first and second ventures into publishing. While working at West Texas A&M University, he authored or co-authored fifteen books, all non-fiction, most related to music. One of them, The Division of Beat, sold over 400,000 copies.
Between 1991 and 1995 Harry and wife Shirley Haines co-authored six books on sports and luxury cars around the world. With a summer's travel through Europe, cars researched included Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari and several others.
In 1998 he turned to fiction, attended the Iowa Summer Writers festival four times, the Maui Writers Conference/Retreat three times, and several dozen writers' conferences located all over the country. During this time his novels remained unpublished, yet he did receive four important awards in national contests (see Awards).
Born in a small town (Elk City) in western Oklahoma, he grew up only fifty feet from the legendary Route 66. He now lives in Canyon, Texas with wife Shirley. They have three grown children.
